PRESS RELEASEW.A.R. FILES LEGAL ACTION AGAINST LEVY COUNTY

MAY 5, 2011: W.A.R., INC.  v.  LEVY COUNTY:  COMPLAINT FOR DECLARATORY AND INJUNCTIVE RELIEF

In January 2008 Inglis and Yankeetown residents were introduced to yet another threat to the community's environment with Corp of Engineers scoping hearings scheduled to begin the mine permitting process for the proposed Tarmac Mine. The Task Force was created to deal with the many issues arising from yet another mine operation in the community Efforts to expose possible environmental damage, habitat intrusion, groundwater supply and quality protection.

THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF MINING IN LEVY COUNTY FLORIDA

One significant accomplishment of W.A.R., Inc. in the past year was to contract an internationally acclaimed economic professor, Dr. Richard Weiskoff, University of Miami to evaluate the economic impacts of rock mining.  The study is now available to you  .. just click the above title to download the pdf file.    (be patient .. document is large and takes a few minutes to open)

We urge you to take the opportunity to read this study. We believe you will be hard pressed to find any net economic benefit from rock mining in our community when you consider the economic and environmental losses that will occur

W.A.R., Inc. will continue to provide well documented facts and science in our efforts to review all issues relating to the permitting process of the Tarmac (King Road) Mine.
